West Monroe is seeking a Senior Software Engineer / Architect with expertise in software engineering to assist with the development, delivery, and management of technology-based business solutions for enterprise clients. The position will focus on developing brand new applications, as well as coding, testing, and implementing new features and configuration changes.  This person will assist in the design and full-stack architecture of software applications to meet both functional and technical requirements; and/or providing project management/software due diligence support. The senior software engineer / consultant will work directly with clients across various industries as a member of our Product Engineering Practice. As a technology agnostic firm, they will also have the opportunity to continuously expand their skillset while working with cutting edge tools.

Responsibilities:
  • Interact with key client decision makers (CTO, Tech VPs, etc.) to understand their vision, gather requirements, and offer relevant insight based on experience in the field
  • Work in a collaborative team setting to support our clients and help solve their business problems through analysis of existing systems, applications, and processes
  • Lead the development of software solutions across full lifecycle Agile projects – requirements gathering, design, development, testing, implementation, and rollout
  • Own the flexibility to be creative and have an impact on designs with a “blank slate” development mentality within the general boundaries of client expectations
  • Build highly interactive and customized web, desktop, and/or mobile front-end and back-end applications
  • Enjoy participating in all aspects of product development including generating ideas, prototyping and building solutions, talking to users, testing outcomes, and integrating learnings into future work
  • Want to learn new languages, paradigms, patterns, and frameworks
  • Enjoy using your creativity and resourcefulness to tackle unexpected challenges

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred, or equivalent experience required
  • Consulting firm/industry experience preferred 
  • 7-11+ years of experience in full-stack software development with preferred skills in:
    • Ruby on Rails, .NET, C#, Java, Python, etc
    • Entity Framework and various APIs
    • JavaScript, React.js, Angular.js, HTML/CSS
    • SQL Server, Azure, AWS, open source tools
  • Experience designing and building web application user interfaces with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
  • Experience with a commonly used back-end framework (e.g. Rails, Spring, .NET) and a commonly used front-end framework (e.g. React, Angular, Vue.js)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization tools (e.g., Docker), and/or orchestration systems (e.g., k8s)
  • Deep understanding of software engineering concepts (requirements, development methodologies, testing and documentation) and an understanding of how technology applies to business concepts
  • Well-versed in object-oriented design and development concepts
  • Comfortable working within a fast-paced, collaborative, Agile/Scrum project environment
  • Desire and ability to work towards leading a team of ~2-4+ software engineering consultants
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel for out of town client engagements
