Our platform is the foundation of how everything for our community-driven, dynamic business operates. Our team of engineers maintain, build and refine our product offering as our business grows and the needs of our community change. During Covid our Engineers have introduced game-changing product features, keeping Roaming Hunger as the leader in mobile food commerce.

Now we are ready for the next step in our journey and are looking for a strong engineering manager with project management experience who is going to help us invest in our software development and take the great work that has been achieved so far by our team, to the next level.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for soneone who is ready to take the next step in their career with a focus on 3 main areas: project management, team management, and technical. You will oversee all mobile and web software development operations from inception to execution.

The engineering manager is responsible for scoping technical requirements, resourcing for projects, maintaining budgets, enforcing deadlines, and supervising and mentoring team members, both internally and externally.

To be successful as our engineering manager you must be highly organized, able to multitask successfully under pressure and be willing to roll your sleeves up and get in the thick of it.

In addition to being a great technical project manager, you will need to be a leader of people. You can not only direct but inspire and develop your team. Do you have experience running internationally outsourced teams? We want to talk!

  • Plan with a clear understanding of product vision and priorities, managing ongoing work within schedule and scope
  • Utilize agile methodologies to run team workstreams, including sprint planning and timeline estimation and definition
  • Lead backlog prioritization exercises, sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, demos, and other related meetings
  • Analyze, plan and develop requirements and standards in reference to scheduled projects
  • Proactively identify potential project risks, and identity solutions to address them in advance
  • Execute several projects concurrently, with a remote & distributed team, while balancing competing priorities
  • Determine and define clear deliverables, roles, and responsibilities for staff members required for specific projects or initiatives
  • Recruit and train exceptional employees to fulfill posted positions within the technical department
  • Serve as the key point of contact for cross-functional project teams and stakeholders
  • Track data, manage budgets, create schedules and carry out progress checks to track performance and accountability
  • Scope out technical requirements and create tickets for the engineers
  • Support in coding when necessary and play an active role in testing and QA

  • Excellent leadership abilities.
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, project management, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of the tech stack: Ruby on Rails and React.js
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Excellent at developing project plans, managing engineering-based efforts, prioritizing deliverables and resources
  • Experience managing remote contractors (especially international)
  • A degree in engineering, computer science or a related field.
  • PMP Certified / Scrum Master are a BIG PLUS!
  • Experience with Jira and/or related project management software
  • Ability to problem-solve under pressure.
  • Experience with a growing Start Up or young business
