Job overview
As a Staff Software Engineer on the Enterprise Team, you will be designing, building, and guiding a variety of services that ungird the business operations of Omada - from creating data ingestion pipelines to verifying program eligibility with insurance providers to creating flexible and reliable mechanisms to bill for members' activities and much much more. How you can make an impact:
  • Architect, build, launch and maintain features and applications to help positively impact health outcomes and happiness of our members
  • Create and maintain tools that empower our internal operations teams in outreaching to prospective members, accepting new members, and accounting for their success
  • Solve and own technical problems over a wide array of systems, processes and technologies. Partner with cross functional stakeholders to solve problems across the full product lifecycle
  • Work in an agile, test-driven, pair programming, continuous delivery environment
  • Mentor, train and collaborate with teammates in how to write great code and solve problems effectively
  • Research, adopt and advocate for new technologies
  • Proactively seek out complexity in code or process and propose solutions to work towards simplicity, efficiency, and reliability
  • Work with the engineering managers to develop and focus the roadmap, prioritize, and find balance between new initiatives and improving our platform

What you need for this role:
  • 7+ years of experience building high quality production web applications in a team setting
  • Deep experience with one or more MVC web application frameworks (Ruby on Rails, Django, Phoenix, etc.)
    • Rails experience is a big plus
  • Experience working with large volumes of data - from ingestion to storage to serving it and beyond
  • Experience building scalable APIs
  • Deep experience working with relational databases and modeling data
  • Strong OO design skills and an understanding of design patterns
  • Experience maintaining Rails monoliths and refactoring to increase their longevity

Bonus Points:
  • Proficiency with JavaScript and a front-end framework like React or Ember
  • Experience designing, developing, and managing microservices
  • Experience with event-driven architecture
  • Strong technical responsibility over the products you work on and the codebases you maintain
  • Ability to work across multiple teams and comfortably navigate unfamiliar systems
  • Ability to mentor and teach other engineers of the team and organization
  • Advocate for test-driven development, pairing, incremental refactoring and sustainable practices
  • Intellectual curiosity, positive attitude, and a desire to influence the products being built
