The Homebase team brings small business expertise from Intuit, Square, OpenTable, Yelp, Gusto, and First Data. Homebase is backed by leading venture investors Bain Capital Ventures, Baseline Ventures, Cowboy Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Plus Capital, and GGV Capital.

The Team

We are responsible for site reliability, moving to Service-oriented architecture, and supporting Product engineering in architectural capabilities (if needed). The person has great communication skills, many different language expertise, and experience in building distributed systems. They have helped large engineering teams shift to different system designs (from monolith to SOA specifically).

It’s a pretty exciting moment in many organizations to be part of the shift. For many, this will help define their resumes for jobs to come. For us, it’s a high-impact role- on the daily lives of engineers in our group, and for the company to shift into a higher gear releasing features faster.

You
An engineer who has helped several engineering organizations shift from a monolith to a service-oriented architecture. Someone who can switch contexts and languages and provide value in each of those. Deep Rails knowledge, as well as time spent in IC roles with product managers (feature engineer or product engineer), are pluses. Currently loves DevOps and loves being a force multiplier in helping individual engineers.

  • You will have the opportunity to impact our software architecture by evaluating emerging and existing technologies
  • You will work on your own with little supervision and mentor junior software engineers
  • You will work very closely with product and design, iterating through different solutions from a product and design perspective, and tie everything back to engineering costs
