The Position
Fangamer is looking to bring on an additional remote web developer to our development team. The web developer will work both independently as well as alongside the development team to maintain our current systems and develop new features.

$50,000 - $65,000, Full-time

  • Update and maintain internal software with new features
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest in online and financial security, as well as data privacy laws
  • Use multiple APIs from shipping carriers, ecommerce stores, and communication apps
  • Be knowledgeable about modern UI conventions and be able to make both customer-facing and internal UI decisions
  • Work independently as a developer; but as a group with customer service staff, shipping staff, financial staff, to get them the right data at the right time

What we're looking for
  • Adeptness with Ruby on Rails
  • Familiarity with things we are using right now: Ruby, Rails, Postgres, Shopify. Familiar with ecommerce needs, such as worldwide privacy laws, taxes, inventory/supply chain, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/related field or commensurate experience

Personal characteristics
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Passion for writing maintainable and readable code

We're anticipating a lot of applicants, and sorting through them is a time-consuming process, so please give us a few weeks to get back to you.

Some tips for new applicants:
  • The most important thing is a link to your Github and/or a portfolio of websites and projects you've worked on in the past
  • A resume doesn't hurt, but it's typically not a major factor in our decisions, so don't spend a lot of time agonizing over it. A strong portfolio easily beats an impressive-sounding resume
  • Give us an idea of who you are. We're curious about your interests, hobbies, aspirations, etc – even (especially!) if they have nothing to do with development or gaming

Questions? Feel free to tweet @reidman for a reasonably fast reply.
