We are looking for a Software Developer with the ability to create automation, build deployment strategies, support developer tools, and think critically to deliver the best software development environment. most robust, the most accessible and the most available. Additionally, the successful candidate will work with the Bell developer community to establish software development guidelines, promote best practices and support their implementation. Our team is strong with a multitude of experiences and skills. Your contribution will be facilitated by your experience in software development, automation, networking and device testing.

Main responsibilities:
  • Develop software tools, including solution architecture, design, development, testing, and post-implementation support.
  • Support environment growth by documenting, presenting, coaching, and then promoting software development tools and practices to Bell teams.
  • Understand software development approaches and provide support to teams on software quality improvement methods and guidelines for achieving set performance goals.
  • Coach project teams on technical practices necessary for agile software development, deployment, testing and release.
  • Support community initiatives focused on sharing ideas, learning, common software projects and best practices to encourage collaboration between Bell teams.
  • Work with vendors to improve our software development environment.
  • Perform feature enhancements and bug fixes using internally developed tools.
Training and skills required:
  • At least six to eight years of software development experience
  • Proficiency in Ruby-on-Rails or Python
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools like Ansible
  • In-depth understanding of source code management (GIT/GitLab)
  • Adequate understanding of computing technologies (programming, cloud architecture, microservices, automation, etc.) and development practices (development and operation, development by testing, continuous integration and deployment tools, etc.)
  • Mastery of techniques for analyzing and solving atypical and extremely complex problems
  • Interest in working with developers who primarily leverage agile methodologies to transform our operational services into self-service
  • Willingness and mindset to dive into unfamiliar technologies or methodologies to understand and leverage their benefits for Bell teams
  • Natural leader of people; understanding of each employee's needs and ability to adapt according to the team's mission and operational objectives
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Desired skills:
  • React, JavaScript
  • Experience working in an agile and sprint management environment
